Want to save a life while you’re here? Come with us and you probably will.

We need your help.  Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation causes 80% of all sickness and disease, and kills more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.  Many people in the developing world, usually women and children, work hours every day to fetch water that is likely to make them sick. Those hours are crucial, preventing many from working or attending school.  Children are especially vulnerable to the consequences of unsafe water.  Of the thousands of deaths that occur each week from unsafe water, 90% are children under the age of 5.  Traditionally Khmer boil their water to make it safe to drink.  This practice is time and labor intensive and speeds deforestation.  Khmer also buy charcoal to boil their water if wood sources are not available.  Sadly 2 Kg of charcoal cost the same as 1 Kg of rice.

The filter you can provide will end the need to boil drinking water by eliminating 98% of diseases found in surface water.  It also provides extra time and money for school and family and happiness.
Universal access to sustainable clean water and sanitation is RE-I’s focus – please join us.

Go with Resource Equality – International to a village and personally give a life-saving water filter to a family.  You will also be invited to help us train the family how to use the filter, teach them about clean water conservation and present fun, interactive DVDs about clean water, sanitation and hygiene.

A.     Each filter is $10.  It’s OK if two volunteers share the cost of 1 filter.  Transportation/snacks cost is $9. for each volunteer – minimum 2 volunteers please. (Total cost for 2 volunteers = just $28.)
