This is a report produced in Vietnam which compares various characteristics of various filters and evaluates their suitability to meet this stated objective:

To explore the possibility of developing Vietnamese ceramic filters as an affordable
and safe HWTS option

From the introduction:

Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General stated that “Access to safe
water is a fundamental human need and, therefore, a basic human right. Contaminated
water jeopardizes both the physical and social health of all people. It is an affront to
human dignity”.

In fact, nowadays, more than 1.1 billion people have no access to an improved water
supply and far more lack access to safe water, 1.2 billion people do not have access to
safe drinking water throughout the world.
